Calling all you Las Vegas experts !!

Just trying to do some forward planning for our trip and have a few questions that I can't find answers to.

1. What is the best way to travel from LAS airport to our hotel (Venetian). Are taxis readily available, how much is the approx. fare ?
2. Are there any shows that we need to book in advance, and any that we should not miss ? I am thinking Blue Man group and/or one of the cirque de soleil shows.
3. Do we need to book a helicopter trip to Grand Canyon in advance or is it easy to arrange when we are there.
4. How much should we expect to pay for breakfast, and are there any good places we should head to. We are looking forward to pancakes [:X]
5. Which restaurants are worth going too ? I have already made a reservation for Olives at the Bellagio in the hope that we can eat and watch the fountains.

Any other must sees / dos ?

1. taxi's are right outside the terminal, fare should be around $20
2."O" at the Bellagio is a do not miss link also La Reve at the Wynn link.
3 No you don't, do a quick search and you will find some links on here, my personal choice is Maverick Helicopters link
4.The Grand Lux link offers some good breakfast stuff, however if you want real pancakes then it has to be The Original Pancake HouseLink.
5.That is a mater of taste and budget, do a quick search on here and you will find a number of reviews of restaurants in the Valley, but yes Olives is good, I also like Postrio in the Venetian.

Trust Scrooge, the Oracle on Vegas!!!! BTW IHOP down by The Vegas Outlet Mall (you need a car) is great for breakfast, and they have free Wi-Fi, I spend all mornig there sometimes

Another [y] here for Le Reve at the Wynn.

Also, if a view of the fountains is important to you whilst eating, try Mon Ami Gabi at Paris - al fresco dining across the road, with a good view of the fountains if you sit in the right place. Think it's probably cheaper than Olives..

Doesn't the strip traffic get in the way? I am trying to visualize where it is in my head.

LOL I have done a few flights with them..np's so far.

Honestly guys, IHOP sucks compared to The Original Pancake House, just for starters TOPH uses real maple syrup.

Good point, though as preiffer will tell you, just having a good flight does not make a tour, there are other aspects that have to be thrown in, so therefor you can have problems with them...but still be here to post QED [|:)]..........[:w]

It's dead opposite, but raised slightly off the strip. The traffic can get in the way a bit, but I think the trees were more of a concern. It's a pretty good view of the fountains still...

BTW lovetoholiday Welcome to VF,as you may of noticed the threads can wander a bit, but feel free to PM me if you lose track.

Don't know when you'll be arriving in Vegas LTH, but if it's a busy time (like Friday evening) pre-arrange your transportation as the queues for taxis are horrendous (1-2 hour wait !).Outside busy times (as Scrooge has indicated)taxis are plentiful.
Whilst you can book Grand Canyon Helicopter tours on arrival you may find the slot times and availability limited (again particularly at weekends or if some big convention is on) ,so if there's a specific day/time /excursion you want, it might be worth booking in advance. We used Sundance and were impressed with what we got for the money.On the breakfast front, if you play tables/slots or in the poker room (the Venetian poker room is our fave)you may end up being comped.

The breakfast buffet in 'Paris' is the best by far....

Assuming the OP is flying VS direct, they'll be arriving at the International Terminal which should be a lot quiter. If however they aren't flying direct, then see above..

Thanks again all, we are flying VS into LAS so will grab a cab when we arrive. Really appreciate all the advice on eating too. I hope 5 days will be enough time to enjoy the food, let alone the sights !
