As Virgin fly to Barbados and having spent a day there recently, I thought I would advise of a great trip I did. If you are into doing day sails I would highly recommend Silver Moon I as a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
The boat which is 44 feet long takes just 12 people and feels very uncrowded. There's also a slightly larger boat that takes 24 people. We stopped off for a snorkel with the turtles and then on to a reef for some fish, had a delicious lunch and then an exciting trip back across what was described as "lumpy" seas.
The crew were great and we had a wonderful day.
If you do a Google search for "Silver Moon" and Barbados you'll find their site. Well worth a try, I hope this is useful.

Also I would like to mention Thriller Ocean tours, great tour, Stephan the captain is great and prices are a little lower than most.
If you look on cruisecritic you will find a lot of good posts about both companies.

We've done a fair few cat trips whilst we've been in Babados before. Love 'em, especially when - as you so nicely put it - the sea gets a bit lumpy. I've had look at the website and can't work one thing out though - do you have to be a party of 12 to charter the boat, or do they take you in twos and threes like other operators?

We were a party of nine and there were three others we didn't know, so I guess they will just find the number to make up the other spaces. Not sure how that works if you go at a quiet time and they can't fill the boat, but I'm sure they should answer that one by email.
