We plan to hire a car for a day or two and have the following on our list of places to see :

Hoover Dam
Valley of Fire
Lake Mead

I am hoping we can do all 3 in one day - is that do-able ?

Any other suggestions of places we should not miss within a couple of hours of LV ?

Thanks
L2H

L2H - one thing to watch here is the length of time you have to queue to get to the dam. Things may have changed, but Easter last year we had to queue to go through a security check a few miles from the dam and then queue to get down to it.

Have a most excellent time.

You could do all three in one day...Just take I-15 north to the Moapa exit, hang a right and follow the road..be careful the road does get a little narrow...and the tribal police love to hand out speeding tickets.

You are going to come out at Overton, just follow the road around and 60 miles later you will be at the Dam.

What time of year are you going? In the winter you can go up to Mount Charleston and go sledging or sking,(the ski resort will cost you about $60 each for all equiptment and clothing) only about 50 minutes north, take the 95 North and just keep going, turn off at Lee Canyon Road (156). We went on Xmas day last year. http://www.skilasvegas.com to Ski resort to check out conditions
