Dubai Desert Safari

Having searched the site, I see a lot of people would recommend a desert safari. We are going to be in Dubai from 30 June for 3 nights on the way to Malaysia and was wondering what the best way to book the safari would be. From what I can gather, the options are book direct with a tour company (e.g. Arabian Adventures or Net Tours), via the hotel (we're staying at the Hilton Dubai Creek), or via a travel site (e.g. Expedia). Does anyone have any experiences of which method may be best?

On another point, we're checking out on 3 July but our flight to Kuala Lumpur isn't until 0310 on 4 July - will we be able to check out as usual and store our luggage at the hotel before coming back and picking it up in the evening. I've done this at other hotels round the world but just want to make sure.

Thanks in advance

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan! We stayed at the Hilton Dubai Creek and booked through the concierge there. The company collected you from the hotel and took you to a meeting point on the edge of the desert to gather the convoy together. It really was so easy to do it that way I wouldn't bother doing it any other way.

There should be no problem storing luggage at the hotel after check-out

My brother has confirmed this is what he has done as well.

He says it is an awesome experience.

We are thinking of doing this safari upon HoneyLamb's recommendation. We fly to DXb 23rd of this month. Will report back if we do it what we think. We'll be staying at Hilton Dubai Creek too!:)

Would echo what Honey Lamb has already said - as we too have stayed at the Hilton Dubai Creek.

One thing to bear in mind is the intense heat in June - at times, temps in the desert hit close to 50 degrees C. It was around 40 in town so a visit to the gold souk (even at night when it dropped to 30) was a big no no.

Have a great time

You should be fine for storing luggage at the hotel - went out into the desert when we there last August; the sand got pretty hot;)
