Has anyone ever lost luggage on an LCC?

I am just curious.

I am currently enjoying a summer break with Sue in the magnificent city of Rome. We arrived yesterday on Easyjet from East Midlands - we arrived, as did Sue's suitcase, but mine was nowhere to be seen. [V]

This is my first Easyjet experience, and I have to say I am not impressed. Delayed flight, chaotic boarding to non assigned seats, cramped conditions and now, no luggage.

This is the third time in 30 years of flying my case has not arrived as it should have. On previous occasions, I was told not to worry, the airline would do all it could, and my luggage would be forwarded to me - each time it was, within a few hours.

This time no one seems to care - I have a 'loss report' and have tried talking to Easyjet, the UK handlers and the Italian handlers, all have said it is someone else's problem or haven't answered the phone. [n]

Easyjet have said it is nothing to do with them, and have been no help whatsoever. Is this normal practice on LCCs?

Compared to a lot of people who are suffering floods and other disasters, this isn't a massive problem but it is bloody inconvenient, and something we could do without.

Is it common?

Thanks for any insights.

Nick

Nick

This is bad news[n][n]

I hope the episode does not ruin your trip to Rome.

My only experience with a LCC and luggage is when Ryanair trashed my suitcase. The process to claim compensation was designed to be difficult and you can gues who ended up footing the bill as along the way, i had given up the will to live

Fingers crossed your experience is better

LCC no but US Air managed to loose my case on a split flight from London to Orlando a few years ago. Interestingly they managed to find it 60 minutes before they would have had to pay me compenstation !
