Does anyone know what restrictions are currently in place for set downs at Gatwick North Terminal?

Also what is the latest regarding hand luggage. I believe it reverted back to clear plastic bags after the 'car bombing' at Glasgow. I don't know if it ever reverted back again

I must confess to not knowing what a 'set down' is, however I travelled through LGW on Saturday (North terminal) and normal one hand baggage rules are in place - no clear plastic bags evident.

I believe it's the way you are deposited at the airport entrance, ie. being set down outside the terminal. Restrictions were put in place to make BAA money make you use the short stay car park instead of a drop off/pick up point.

If that is true, it would follow the restrictions put in place at LAX and various other US airports in the immediate wake of 9/11, to further reduce likelihood of vehicle bombs.

As far as I'm aware there's been no change at the north terminal. There's still a line to get up the ramp in the early mornings to departures but otherwise they have left the north terminal alone thankfully. It's at the south terminal where they're changing it all around.

I can confirm this, I dropped someone off last week at the North Terminal and there is no change - unlike South Terminal where the upper level is now closed[n]

Thanks for the feedback. Yes by 'Set Down' I was referring to a terminal drop off.

Our eldest daughter works airside at Gatwick North & tells us if regulations have changed & she has said nothing in the past few days.

Do be aware that you can't finish a bottle of water/soft drinks/ coffee IN the queue for security at Gatwick North. You have to leave any drinks just before you START to queue.
