Picked this one myself this morning from the Times here

BAA source: ÒFerrovial have a huge debt burden and they canÕt sustain that."

Well maybe they should've considered that before purchasing BAA. It's not like they didn't already benefit from the Spanish government's very favourable tax treatment on such purchases, since deemed to be illegal subsidies by the EU.

Ken Livingstone: Heathrow ÒshamedÓ the capital. I don't always see eye to eye with Ken, but I do on this.

Oh, and this made me laugh, from a BAA spokesman: "ItÕs not simply about costs. ItÕs about building a much leaner and more efficient business.Ó

Er, making a "leaner" and "more efficient" business is all about costs, isn't it?

Never a truer word said. :) How about they cut back on their marketing team, and advertising budget. That should save tens of millions instantly. I'm sure there are layers of mindless middle management that could go to.

Oh yes, and those annoying 'concierges' that are there to apparantly help people shop, who remembers that silly annoying woman from Airport that did just this? Rushing around between 2 terminals to help a passenger buy a £18 Disney DVD (that was highly unlikely to play in the US) - there is going the extra mile, but within a cost reason.

Maybe the car park prices will go up again? I wonder if a detailed copy of their accounts could be obtained just to see the real P&L.

Thanks,
Richard

Oh yer, that foreign woman, I remember when Kris Akabusi was in the terminal and she spent ages asking people who he was and how to pronounce his name, waste of money.
