It appears that, despite many rumours on A.net, that CO have chosen Bristol as their next UK route.

It's due to commence daily in may and will utilise a 757-200.

It would be great if VS codeshared these regional flights as they could claim another advantage over BA!

Intersting. Just before 9/11 they announced a STN - EWR route but I'm not sure it ever flew. That would save me from doing the M25 if they code shared...

Much as I enjoy flying VS, having the option to go direct from my local airport would be great.

Yeh STN-EWR did fly and it lasted for about 4months, airliner world did a big thing on it in there news section at the time- though it was cut in about nov of 2001 due to the 9/11 effect.

Rumours have it that CO will be re-starting the EWR-STN route at the same time as the Bristol-EWR routing. Bristol being selected is a huge blow to Cardiff becuase CO was there best bet of getting a transataltnic route.

Current CO routes to EWR are from:
LGW (2 daily on 777)
LHR (VS codeshare)
BHX
MAN
GLA
EDI

I agree, the prospect of a scheduled transatlantic service from NEMA (formerly EMA - East Midlands Airport;) ) with VS points thrown in would be a huge incentive to stop doing that trek down the M1 - we can but dream. :)

Well one would have thought they would never operate to both EDI and GLA but they do! So who knows BHX and NEMA or Bristol and Cardiff or even Liverpool and MAN!
