I seek your advice in choosing a hotel for the Jimbob247 familly.
We are 30 (Mrs Jimbob and I) with two infants, one of 20 months, one of 4 months.
We seek modern, not 'arab gold chic', accomodation in Dubai, spacious a must, good pools, and offering local activities.
This is our first time in the region. We are considering the Burj but I find the decor quite unpleasant. That would only be for 2 nights so we need something for the other 4.
I am a Starwood gold and Hyatt platinum cardholder, but that is not the driving factor.
Thanks!

Park Hyatt will be our hotel of choice their now, it is a beautiful resort hotel. We instantly fell in love with it when we went for a meal and drinks. Hilton looks nice too but didn't stop there.
The Sheraton was ok - very anonymous, not great but it was a room and comfy bed.

The Dubai forum on Trip Advisor is one of the best and most informative you'll get. Have a look on there, some of those people go to Dubai numerous times a year, they know everything! Have not stayed there myself but have heard Ritz Carlton is supposed to be excellent, fantastic service, lovely surroundings but not as OTT as Burj.
Whichever hotel you choose you'll have a great time, its an amazing destination!

Thanks I have had a look there already and will continue to do so. If only there was a Mandarin Oriental or St Regis...

I'd avoid the Sheraton - the facilities are great, but service and pricing are not.
As per Fozzyo, The Park Hyatt is stunning but not too sure how it would fare in terms of family friendly.

I stayed at the Hilton Dubai Creek which i loved but felt was more a business hotel. However the Hilton Jumeirah Beach was very much a family hotel although at the time I was there - 2 years ago - it was surrounded by building works

I would highly reccommend the 'Le Meridien Royal Beach Resort & Spa'. I have stayed there twice and fell it is one of the best hotels I have been to - ever! It gets really good reviews on Trip Advisor too - especially with kids!
Don't worry that it looks quite far out - the taxis are cheap and quite often I have been given the hotel car to go into town at the same rate as a taxi!
Pools are great - Spa is wonderful!
As I said I have stayed twice, restaurants are superb, but the most important thing is the service is out of this world. If you want any more tips for this hotel please ask.
Regards
AKS

I firmly believe the Royal Mirage (Arabian Court) offers the best overall facilities and service.
Just booked to stay there again in October - a third visit to this hotel.

I 110% agree ! Although I have not stayed at The Arabian court, I am a regular (at least three times a year) at quieter The Residence which is part of the Royal Mirage and callit my second home as no where is so welcoming. Ofcourse I have often dined etc at Arabian Court - which caters for families with 'well behaved children [:p]' (otherwise stay at The Palace which is more down market in my view) and the restuarants at Arabian Court ( Eau Zone and Nina in particular) are first class not forgetting the fabulous roof top bar for a pre dinner cocktail or three [:p]

In June 2007, it was surrounded by building works still, but somehow when you are by the pool or on the private beach you don't notice. And the beachfront drinks service was simply excellent!

I would recommend Madinat Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf
Stayed there for the last few years and gets you access to the usual Jumeirah Perks including Burg Al Arab, Wild Water Water Park Etc
Great Views, Fab Service but can be pricey, Don't have kids myself but there are always plenty of families staying and has lots of facilities.
