Irish ATC strike

Today, after a series of disruptions in Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports which have effectively closed each of the airports in turn for a few hours on about four or five occasions, Air Traffic controllers announced a 24 hour strike next Thursday, Feb 28. Obviously the immediate and initial impact will be at Irish airports which will have to close but there will also be an effect on flights overflying the country en route to and from the USA and Canada. Unless there is a resolution several flights from Europe to North America will have to take 'the long way round' to get to their destinations which may result in delays.
