Priceline does us proud

Aided by comments/advice from other V-flyers I'm pleased to report that the hotels I'd secured on Priceline were all excellent. No mention was made of me having booked with Priceline at any of the hotels.Hilton Garden Inn (Plymouth) gave us a lovely two king bedded room, the Sheraton Four Points (Cape Cod) gave us run of the house and gave me keycards to look at 3 different rooms (opted for a two king bedded room not overlooking the indoor pool).
I'd been worried that the Sheraton in Boston would give us the box room (it was St Patrick's day weekend and the hotel was heaving). My fears were unfounded-they gave us a massive corner room on the 25th floor (with amazing views out over the river) with kitchen area, work area and superking bed because of my SPG Au status. They also offered me a further upgrade to the exec floors for an extra $40 a night ( but the receptionist said it was a much smaller room without any water views). After a bit of deliberation we opted to keep the room we were offered and wern't disappointed. Them honouring the AU late check out was a major bonus too![:D]. I'll have no qualms on using Priceline again- with judicious bidding (ie using highest star rating available) there are some excellent bargains to be had.All rooms incidentally were non-smoking as requested.Beginners luck perhaps but very pleased none the less[:D]
Thanks to all for the help and advice.

As you know I'm a great fan of Priceline unless there is a particular place I want to stay and even then I've been able to swing it at times. I'm glad it worked out for you. [y] The savings can be massive

We've always done very well with Priceline in San Fran, never had any problems with it. Really pleased it worked out well for you.

Having a blonde morning... Do you use the .co.uk or .com site? If I use the .com, it doesn't allow a UK address and the .co.uk doesn't seem to have an update account area.

Am I missing something?

Never mind. Just bagged the Westin St Francis market St for £150 a night. A happy (Easter) Bunny. [:D]

I use the .com site as the .co.uk site only allows UK addresses and UK postcodes are impossible to make up. For the .com one which needs a zip code it is easier to do and for the purposes of priceline I live in Indiana [:w]

Following the advice of those far more knowledgeable about Priceline than me, I used the biddingfor travel.com website which may help with using priceline.com (and give an idea as to successful winning bids). I used the priceline.co.uk site in the end as it was my first forray and I was still a bit unsure as how to enter an address that would be accepted.Seems it is possible with a little manipulation regarding addresses to book via the US site as HL can testify to[:D]

While UK Postcodes are impossible to make up you can use a little trick I learnt a few years ago. All main UK post towns that have a main sorting office will use a fairly regimented Post Code. For example the main sorting office in Reading has a post code of RG1 1AA. My understanding is for any other post town just use AA as the last 2 letters. Alternatively use the post code for a local business.

By the way, 'my Zip Code' means I 'live' in Santa Monica (Le Merigot [:I])
