Apparently they have had fuel pump issues.

The headline they're using is misleading.

In fact this is the third A380 grounding (none have happened at the same time as the headline describes).

1. Tow truck rolled it onto the grass
2. Fuel pump relay failure
3. Fuel pump failure.

Since the ac have been operating since Oct 2007 I'd say this is a pretty good service record for brand new complex ac with unfamiliarity of ground crews thrown into the mix!

Do you not think that using the term 'grounded' is a bit...extreme? To me grounding suggests taking an aircraft type out of revenue service for an extended/indefinite period of time such as Pakistan International Airways grounding their whole 747 fleet, they don't know what they're going to be doing with the aircraft and whether or not they will ever enter service again. Along with SAS grounding their Q400s last year and removing them from their fleet...only to buy more later on [:p]. The A380 has gone tech which happens every day all over the world.

Like McMaddog said it has had a very good entry into service, SIAs senior vice president for engineering said 'I've never seen such a good introduction' [:D]
