V-Flyer

Generally we fly PE which of course excludes us from CH entry unless we pay (which we've done on several occasions and enjoyed the experience) so having booked some internal flights in the US from EWR to MCO I was intrigued to see that you can buy membership to their Presidents club for $400 a year. This gives you and up to 2 guests unlimited entry to their lounges and others including Delta in other parts of the world.

Having not used Continental in the past I was wondering what opinions there were amongst the great and good. While I'm sure they won't equal Virgin's CH offerings they have to be better than sitting in the terminal, don't they?

I guess it depends if you think it's worth the money for how many times you will fly in a year. I have Priority Pass. Yesterday, I found the BA lounge at GRU was small and too hot, so I tried the United Red Carpet Club lounge. It was much nicer, free alcohol, better food and more spacious.

The Lounge at JFK T4 is also available for those that don't have clubhouse access. Suits my needs perfectly. get a drink, have a few nibbles and spend an hour or so sitting comfortably.

Check out the reviews of the lounges of the places you're likely to use, and see if they sound worthwhile?

I would also check out Priority Pass - it may cost you less and is more flexible than buying President's Club membership. The Continental club at EWR is a good one and also be alert that not all United Red Carpet Clubs are accessible.

Don't bother to be honest - get a Platinum AmEx instead, which will give you access, and two Priority Passes (worth £255 each) - £300 annual fee. Plus you get all the other normal stuff with it, such as the comprehensive travel insurance.

Or I24 - only £275, two Priority Passes, comprehensive travel insurance and mastercard so acceptable everywhere with the 1% cashback!
