V-Flyer

Just gauging some ideas at the moment. I'm planning to visit NYC again late summer (Aug/Sept)but would also like to link a 3/4 nights trip to either Boston, Chicago or Washington. Which city would you go for if it is your first time? It is just general sightseeing of mounments and the city itself. Which city offer more for my short stay?

I was at first but Boston has come into it and recent threads I have read put Chicago in the frame but to be honest it is either Washington or Boston. Not sure quite what to see in Boston.

If you do a search on 'Boston' in the Travel -General forum and select 'any date', there are at least half a dozen threads about what to do / see / eat in Boston.

Some of them go back a bit, but they are all still valid.

Was in Boston a couple of weeks ago, and loved it.

Not that that really helps your decision making any...!

Ive just recently had the same dilemma between Chicago or Boston and I went with Boston !

I've been to Washington many times (working)and IMHO if you like daytime activities like museums, monuments and history (not that they have a lot [:p]) its a great place to visit. That said its not really a place that I care for much after dark and I base that on my own experience and observations.

One thing for sure if you have not been to either you will find plenty to do in 3/4 days and I'm sure you will have a great time.

I will let you know how my long weekend in Boston goes next month.

Hey Mark - Dare I as the nightlife venues you went to?

To make it clear I'm only refering to when I have actually had to stay in what I would refer to as the 'centre' of DC as opposed to what I would call the 'suburbs' like Mclean, Sterling or other places in Virginia which are great [:)] or the likes of Georgetown which is lovely.

It was not the nightlife venues , I just found in general that it took on a new dimension at night (not unusual for a major city I know) which personally in certain areas I found uncomfortable and at times intimidating, I felt that if you wandered around you could very easily turn the wrong corner and land yourself with a problem.
