easyJet post 43million loss

No-frills airline easyJet said on Wednesday that losses deepened in the first half of its financial year as record high oil prices ramped up the cost of kerosene or jet fuel.
The carrier recorded a net loss of 43.3 million pounds in the six months to March 31, 2008.............

I wonder how much of this loss is because they have taken over GB Airways.
I am not sure on the ins and outs of the deal but maybe EZY had to pay off some pretty hefty finance arrangements to get GB.
Or worse maybe GB is not in good financial shape and they have affected EZy's accounts?
Very interest and sort of follows the trend of LCC's (B6 for example).

I believe it's quite normal for them to run at a loss at this time of the year anyway, they recover it during the other profitable parts. Regardless though fuel is hurting them and there will be a small scale reduction in fleet partly due to speeding up the withdrawal of their final B737s.

That is very true.
Will be interesting to see how long the 320's and 321's are around for. Talk is that EZY are not too keen on them and if added costs are experienced maybe they will be out.
