Just thought I would type this quickie before I fall asleep ....

Ive just arrived in Sydney for the first time and I have to say the whole Immigration & Customs experience was nothing short of perfect and completely puts both the UK and USA to shame.

It was very quick (I know that can be 'time of day' dependent) ALL the staff were thoroughly pleasant, the whole setup looked professional/efficient and it was ! ..... added bonus I was out and in my car within 30 min of leaving the aircraft. That included declaring my work kit to customs !

When you also take into account the painless business visa done online for AUS$20

A big pat on the back from me ! ! Why cant other countries take a leaf ?

Good for you. It took us two and a half hours [:(!]

It can be a bit hit and miss in Sydney as it depends on the time of day you arrive.

I arrived late at night so i was first in the queue at Customs but i have hears that it can get very crowded especially when the all the European flights arrive in the same time period.

Heavens[:0]. We too managed it in about 30 mins through both,and the immigration official was absoluely charming too[:)].

I have to say, our arrival in SYD last year was hindered just a tad by those nice chaps from Customs, as you'll see from the last part of this TR...

I suppose I would rather have that happen in Sydney as opposed to Bangkok, Singapore etc ... as a sniffer dogs nose there can be good enough to keep you for a few days !

I had a large trunk full of computer equipment for work, which I declared, they just stuck it through the X-Ray and sent me on my way with not even a question asked [:)]
