Someone fighting extra taxes

It's very interesting.
Is it actually getting to the point where the UK is pricing the average leisure pax out of the market ?
I know from talking to friends that they would love to visit the UK, but due to the bad exchange rate, the high cost of hotels and the prices of flights they can't even think about it.
