OK a bit late I know but just found this on the bmi website:

From 17 June 2008 the introduction of a new shared airport departure area is just the next step in the development of the Terminal. Whether you are travelling on a domestic or international flight with bmi you will access the departure gates via the international departure area and be able to take advantage of all the services and retail outlets that the Terminal has to offer.

additional security measures

On your next domestic flight with us, you will be asked to pause for a photograph when you present your boarding pass at the security search area. Quick and safe, this then allows you to proceed through the security process to relax and enjoy the airport departure area. On your way to your gate, your photograph will be validated just prior to boarding your flight. Afterwards the records are deleted so there's no need to worry about them being kept on file.

so no more seperate domestic/international departures if you are using T1 at LHR.

hurrah! always found the domestic bit at T1 had the longer security check queues! and it sounds as if BAA are using the technology in LGW North at long last...

I presume that this will include the ROI flights and if so whether EI will do the same [:?]

How long are EI hanging around in T1 anyway? I know NZ and UA have postponed moving over to T1. Are EI staying or are they being shoved into T3 with all the other non-aligned carriers/one world?

I haven't heard but it would suit me fine if they did move to T3 [:D]

Here is a list of terminal changes. Sorry HL to get your hopes up but it seems that EI are staying put until HEathrow East is opened. Terminal Changes at LHR

No worries. I hadn't expected it nor heard about it and so it was but a fleeting moment of optimism! [:D]

Just had a conversation with a friend who is just back from LHR. She confirmed that EI go through the International Departure area as well and in fact the domestic departure area is now closed up. She spent ages looking for it [:w]
