Qantas Internal Flights - ok or not?

Hi all

Anyone advise what Qantas is like on domestic routes, their luggage allowance seems quite generous and they are coming out cheaper than Virgin Blue for all the routes I want to do.....

Any tips/advice?

Thanks

Baloo

If they're cheaper than DJ then book them. Having said that we had no problem with excess baggage on DJ until the final leg of our trip from MEL- SYD( and we'd had 4 internals with lots of weight on each leg). However once they'd seen our return tickets in J they waived all fees (we weren't transitting with VS for 5 days).

They're fine. Only issue is that FA are not as nice as DJ.

They are, as others have said, fine.

They are full service so you will get drinks and snacks dependent on time of day. Note though alcohol is only free in Y on CityFlyer flights leaving after 1600 Monday to Friday otherwise its $6. Also they use an airbridge where available so if you are averse to walking down stairs to then climb stairs there is another plus - but with it comes a negative!

I have been flying with them a lot this year with work and haven't really had a problem.

Did a few QF flights domestically within Australia a couple of years ago.

Very happy with the service throughout, from arriving at the airport to leaving at the other end, except for one very slow bag delivery at MEL.

All the flight attendants I flew with were genuinely pleasant in that inimitable Aussie way, and nothing seemed too much trouble.

The A330 and 767-300s were nice, though I thought the 737-800 was a bit cramped.

More generous bag allowance and competitive fares influenced my choice of QF over DJ.
