Zoom can LGW-JFK but adds to FLL

Open skies hasn't really shifted much, AF with one flight to LAX, a couple of Deltas, a NWA and a Continental or too ... more than matched perhaps by the reduction of New York flights from other airports (notably Stanstead). Now Zoom is cancelling its New York flights from Gatwick - in the same article I read about their flights to Fort Lauderdale. Now if Virgin would go to FLL and not MIA (perhaps the worst big airport in the USA) I might start going back to Southern Florida ...

Have you got a source for or link to the article, slinky?

I have always wondered why more UK airlines don't use FLL. MIA is hardly the best gateway. [n]

Poor Zoom! I wondered why they were so late showing winter JFK flights on their site.

Well them dropping LGW-JFK is hardly a surprise, trying to jump into the ultra competitive London - New York market is hard at the best of times.

LGW - FLL should do a lot better, FLL is a great airport to fly through, unless your flying Spirit.

And unless you land at FLL on a VA diverted flight but literally can't get off because there aren't any steps as happened to us in May 2006[n]

Made worse when you don't use your own metal and lease in a 757 from Air Finland.

Hopefully this will mean year round services to FLL.

I would find RSW even better that FLL!
