Gatwick to Muswell Hill?

What is the quickest and easiest way to get from LGW to Muswell Hill Place? we land at 6am so I think the choices we have available are -

GEX to Victoria then a taxi

Private Airport pick up

Hire a car

I'm not sure Mr Ptarmigan is going to want to negotiate the M25 after a long flight and he wont be able to have a drink on the plane if we go with the hire car option.

Any ideas on which is quicker and least stressful? If you think Airport pick up can you recommend a company that is reliable and will be able to fit 4 people and 4 large suitcases in the vehicle?

Thanks :)

That's a toughie.

I wouldn't take a cab from Victoria at the kind of time you'll be arriving, ie morning rush hour. The cab part will be a tortuous journey.

As a suggestion take the Thameslink train service to St Pancras International and either:

(a) take the tube for one of the stations around Muswell Hill - eg, Turnpike Lane (Piccadilly Line) or East Finchley (Northern Line), then get a cab;

or (b) change at St Pancras International to another overland train get you to Cricklewood then get a cab.

Renting a car will be 'interesting' for this route at this time of day, and not something I'd want to consider.

Do you have 12,500 miles to burn, assuming you're flying VS? Either that or call TriStar for a quote.

Cheers, Howard

Cab from St Pancras might not be too bad at that sort of time as it is on the right side of Central London - it is pretty much staight up the A1 through Archway (or via Kentish town) - probably £20-25 I think.

Presuming this is a weekday this should be much quicker than getting a taxi all the way from Gatwick.

Highgate is probably the nearest/easiest tube station for Muswell Hill.
