Reading the question 'best hotel booking site' got me thinking. I managed a fab deal in April.[}:)][}:)][}:)]

4 of us had booked to fly to NY.
I reserved 2 rooms for 4 nights (= 8 nights) on a nice hotel chain's website.

The cost was $209+taxes for the Sat & Sun nights & $469+taxes for Mon & Tues nights, totalling $3102.86.[:$]

It was rather pricey for us & I kept an eye on the website but the prices didn't drop.

I decided to call the hotel direct about a month before our hol to enquire if there were any deals going bearing in mind the total stay would be for 8 nights.

The receptionist at the hotel said that she could drop the cost of the Mon & Tues nights to $409+taxes per room. This was a saving but still too costly for us truth be told.

However, I thanked her very much & she said that she would send an email confirming the lower rate which she did within 10 minutes of me putting the 'phone down.

I glanced at the email & saw, love her to pieces forever & ever & ever that she had given us both rooms for 4 nights at the rate of $209+taxes.!!![^][^][^][^]

I'll save you the maths [|:)]by stating that this saved us a fantastic, whopping & wonderful............................$1179.14.

That was our spending money suddenly realised![;)]

The moral of the story is if you don't ask you don't get.

I have to say that the hotel suited our needs fantastically well, the staff were excellent & we even had a wonderful view & breakfast included.

We would love to return one day.

Happy phoning.

What was your best deal?
