UA Enhance US Domestic Priority Boarding

In this day of cost cutting, it's good to see UA do something which costs them little or no money to improve service for their regular pax.

UA Premier Execs and Star Golds were previously boarded as part of 'Seating 1' (but after UGS, 1K, and the First Class cabin), on UA domestic flights.

Now, they can priority board before 'Seating 1', and the boarding cards will carry a big 'PR EXEC' or 'STAR G' marker, printed on by the boarding card printer, to help gate staff easily see the entitlement.

Given that little touches like this are being discussed elsewhere, I thought I'd mention it.

UA are by no means perfect, but they do seem to be good at doing small things like this which make the airport experience or flight a bit smoother.

Cheers,
Mike

Well, 'enhance' is one way to describe this ...

Another one is that they have decided to slice, dice and offer up for sale most Premier 'benefits', and reserved real benefits for PremExecs and above.

Though I do agree with you that in many ways they have a terrific operation, always very efficient and accomodating - BH and I were on a flight a few weeks ago, not together, she on later flight, got waitlisted and bagged a premium 757 row 9 seat no sweat. Always amazes me how good they are at this kind of stuff - and reminds me of a time in AMS on BA when I got done early with my meetings, got to the airport and received the 'over our dead bodies' lecture from the staff when I asked to be placed on an earlier flight. Really, it ain't that hard.

Bottom line, tho', this has to make me question loyalty to VS a bit, there is much I am missing out on in UA benefits by not reaching the next level. Which of course is the whole point.

Enjoy SF, been a bit chilly here too the last few days, and wet to boot.
