Just got this email from Amex:
quote:We've got some fantastic news British Airways has joined the Membership Rewards programme. You can now redeem points for BA Miles_ (1 point = 1 BA Mile), so your everyday spend could soon add up to a reward flight abroad.

[Wonder how quickly this and other 'partnerships' go away when the economy improves.]

Bazz - nice to see AmEx being as efficient as ever. This has been in place for a couple of months now!

Bloody efficient enough when whacking on the charge for my Centurion renewal Richard!
Maybe they are emailing in blocks in reverse alphabetical order [:D]

Oh of course. I get the impression that most UK Cents are not happy with the new offerings...

Hence why I have left Cent for the more exlusive NatWest Balck card offering

Mmm, not really sure I'd say it's more exclusive. In terms of being able to get either of the product, it's far easier and direct to get NatWest Black as anyone that meets the criteria can have one. I looked at it when it was offered to me and it seemed to be aimed at the AmEx Platinum market with its price point and benefits. Even then, Platinum AmEx looks a stronger product overall in terms of benefits.

Well I disagree with you slightly here- I was offered (and took up) an Amex Centurion when I was earning less than the £75k salary threshold you have to prove to get the NatWest Black card - plus the NatWest concierge and hotel rates have beaten the Centurion deals every time for me recently.

BTW you HAVE to apply for a NatWest Blck card and not be offered one.
Not disagreeing on the concierge or travel aspect though, as Centurion have a patchy track record here but I didn't see Natwest offering a free night at most MO's or any hotel status. All depends on your definition of 'exclusive' really, as calling AmEx and asking for a Centurion regardless of income will yield a simple no as it's based on past history, more than simple criteria. I was offered the card via Natwest Private Banking (with the discounted fee) to partner my account but I declined given that Centurion was of more use for my needs at that time.
