Has anyone else received an email from BAA Worldpoints stating that wef 31st August they will no longer be participating in this scheme as BAA are selling LGW?[n]

This is a bummer as I've managed to rack up thousands of BAA worldpoints over a few years to convert to VA miles & Airmiles.

This is a real shame. We often will pop to the airport to get a few things from boots or WH Smiths and grab a coffee knowing that our spend is racking up a few miles. All seems rather sudden as they're not selling it for a while and they haven't announced that its stopping at the other airports they are selling.

Although to be honest lately it seems BAA are intent on running LGW down as much as possible before the sale so it doesn't come as a big surprise.

Yup, got my copy yesterday - can't say it affects me too much. Wasn't particularly surprised to hear it though, what with LGW to be sold. Given that WorldPoints is a BAA scheme, I hadn't really anticipated LGW-based points collections would be allowed when a new owner took over (though as ade says, I didn't think they were selling for a while) [:D]

Cheers

Have not seen this particular email yet.

You can see it from BAAs point of view - they won't have LGW for much longer and the longer they keep giving WPs then the greater the liabilities they are generating for later redemption.

I used to just leave my WPs in my account but have now taken to converting them to FC miles whenever I get over 500.

I also found out that you no longer get WP for pre-ordered currency only for walk up purchases which I was a tad annoyed about because I only found out after I had sent in a manual claim.
