Ms Carter wants a long weekend away in July when I'm back from 10 days in LAS without her [:D] Any recommendations for where to stay for a bit of romance??

So far have ruled out Pelirocco and Granville, both seem a little tacky reading the reviews and need freshening up. Five and Drakes both fully booked the weekend we're looking at.

At moment the short list, in no particular order, Hotel Una, Square, Radisson Blu (formerly Royal York).

Looking for somewhere within easy walking distance of the shops and the front. Being clean and friendly is a must, a decent shower is always nice as well....

Actually after doing 2 minutes of research, scratch that, the Una seems to be the one to go for.

Does it have to be Brighton though ? would somewhere in the area work, just not shore front ?

The lady wants Brighton.... Dont think gonna get much leeway....

Yeah know how that goes, in that case I stick with the Una choice.

Hotel du Vin is very central and lovely rooms with great showers.

And see if you can book a table at Due South if the weather forecast is good, it's directly on the beach - ask for a table looking out to sea , very romantic. If you are going out for the evening a glass of champagne in Brown's bar (Ship Street nr Hotel du Vin) is a nice place to start, they also do nice breakfasts. Have fun.[^]

Due South is fantastic - especialy like us you get a table at the top overlooking the beach etc.

Thanks all. Have booked Hotel Una for our stay, prefer the idea of supporting a local independant rather than a chain. Will definitely look to book up Due South for the saturday evening.

Book soon - it is a very small restuarant and incredibly popluar. We book a few months in advance to get a tbale with a view.

Was going to add if Due South was booked then take a look at Havana. A tip for anyone heading down to Brighton.

For Breakfast don't bother with Browns, every time we go there it is empty and has no atmosphere. I would suggest you head over to Bill's in the north lanes near to the new library. It is all organic, rustic and excellent. By far the best cooked breakfast I have had in Brighton (with the exception of the GF's Mums breakfast of course [:)]). Be warned it is popular, although I have never had to wait for more than 10 minutes on a Sunday morning. For a cheeky lunch their is the Oyster/Seaford bar in the lanes.

As for Bills - my breakfast place of choice too, such a good selection of food too for me being a veggie [y]
