June 23 (Bloomberg) -- Boeing today announced that first flight of the 787 Dreamliner will be postponed due to a need to reinforce an area within the side-of-body section of the aircraft.

Virgin obviously had the crystal ball or were informed early by boeing hence the a330 order. Will this plane ever fly

I'm wondering whether VS really has cancelled the 787 order ... probably in no one's interest to publicise it if they have.

I don't see any reason why VS would of canceled yet, but I am saddened by yet another delay. I do see Boeing throwing money at airlines to stop them from canceling though.
At least Boeing is doing the right thing by fixing the problem, not just patching it.

Says that Virgin Atlantic are in talks for 50 A350s to arrive from 2014 onwards and not sure how that would fit with the 787s and the A330s....

If VS get 50 A350's they will be to replace ALL the A330, A343 & A346 aircraft!
