It is probably safer - less distance to travel before hitting a hard surface.
On short flights many would prefer to spend the hour or less standing or leaning against a support while in cruise.
How many of us spend more than an hour at the bar on VS flights?
What is the problem if people would like the opportunity for a free flight?

Posted: 06 Jul 2009, 17:13I never thought it would come true, but what a joke RyanAIr becomes once again. A free fare? They'll start increasing surcharges to pay for it all. Otherwise how is it cost effective?

Posted: 06 Jul 2009, 19:01I try very hard to avoid even reading about Ryanair due to one totally unacceptable never to be repeated flight! Quite frankly I may as well have been standing up for all the comfort and service I got so its there in all but name already.

Maybe Ryanair are going to use the Tokyo subway business model with staff employed as pushers to compress as many passengers as possible into the fuselage until it's impossible to fall over anyway and then secure everyone with one huge bungee seatbelt.

Posted: 06 Jul 2009, 20:03Remember that MO'L will say almost anything to get press coverage. I reckon if he'd have said that our flights will have a bar area at the back where customers can spend the entire flight, people would think it was a great idea.
I'm not a huge Ryanair fan - I have flown Ryanair about 12 times in the last year, maximum fare I paid, including taxes, check-in fees etc. was 5. It was all completely discretionary travel - they had a special offer, I had a day off. They are fine. You pays your money you take a risk!

Ryanair do often offer free flights. This way, they can use the spare capacity that exists on almost every flight to top up the revenue paying passengers.

Yep, this is all it's about for him, as he has openly said, any publicity is good publicity for Ryanair and he does it all the time.
