Think it will be at the discretion of the hotel - as room upgrades always seem to be.

Didn't think you got lounge access with Hilton Gold?

you only get lounge access if you get upgraded to an executive room (with Diamond, it is automatic even if you don't get an executive room). I have had three rooms booked in the past, and had all of them upgraded!

Hmm checked into the Hilton York last night as a Diamond. No special room and the Golds all got wine and fruit and I got water. Had to mention this to front desk to have it rectified. Front board mentions 'Executive Rooms' but Front Desk assure me ALL rooms are the same...

Sounds like the usual bollocks you get when programme perks aren't forthcoming. I normally take a peek at the floorplan on the back of the door in the room to work out if all the rooms are exactly the same - obviously not foolproof as different floors can have different layouts, and the fixtures for an 'executive' room may change, but the dimensions might be the same - but you can at least quickly tell whether you're being told porkies or not.
