A worrying Trend

As reported in Business Traveller now Air France is to charge for second bag to the US[:0]

Hope this doesn't catch on[:(!]

I think it is only matter of time before this sort of thing is common practice. With all airlines struggling with costs they will look at any way to bring in extra revenue, and with most people used to it on LCC's, other main stream airlines seem to think pax will not be too unhappy if they follow suit.

Indeed, but Virgin and BA beat them to it ...

Not on VS to the US they didn't
' Passengers travelling in Economy between the USA and India - one additional bag at 23 kilos'

So you still have 2 bags but each of only 23kg.

I thought the interpretation of this ruling as of 25th Nov 09 was that pax departing originally from India, connecting through UK on to the US had the 2 bag allowance not pax starting from UK.[:?]

That's right. All flights originating ex the UK, the baggage in Y is 1x23kg for flights booked after the 25th November.

That's right. All flights originating ex the UK, the baggage in Y is 1x23kg for flights booked after the 25th November.
