Gatwick delays

Just had a phone call from one of our staff stuck at Gatwick (due up to EDI on easyjet around 5 tonight) - all flights are cancelled (easyjet say possibly for the next 3 days [:0])
Managed to book him on a flexible ticket with BA at 8.20 tomorrow morning so at least he will have the lounge benefits after spending the night on the terminal floor. (can't get an onsite hotel and he has just had a hip replacement 6 months ago so no wondering around)
I noticed some of the VS flights had 5 hour delays this morning so I hope anyone flying in the next few days isn't too inconvenienced.
Oh dear. a few stressful days ahead.

The VS27 left a couple of minutes short of 9 hours late today - effectively leaving LGW at pretty much the same time it should have been arriving in Orlando. Ouch.
I cannot help but think that a lot of pax's Christmas travel plans are going to be messed up with long delays - especially on the VS routes ex-LGW & MAN, where a short delay can take a long time to correct itself.
Whilst the snow is obviously beyond the control of VS, I bet someone in their Flight Ops team wishes they still had G-VROM & the 3 aircraft they parked up from the LHR fleet to hand - they would have helped the current situation no-end.

LGW:
3 Aircraft (VS27,43,15) departed more than 8 hrs late, VS69 only 7hrs 15min late. VS29 managed a mere 1hr late.
[Correction: VS69 still not departed - over 12 hours late!]
VS64 & 28 arrived over 5 hrs late; 44 & 16 were over 4 hrs; 32 was 3 1/2 hrs; only 30 was on-time.
MAN had 78 over 5hrs late, 75 & 76 3hrs late.
LHR arrivals were 3 aircraft on-time, 7 up to 45mins late & 13 up to 3hrs late
Departures: 7 on-time,6 up to 45mins & 6 up to 2hrs late.
A hard day for VS staff!
Those that get one will have earned their Christmas break.

Looks like they cancelled VS69 in the end, with no flight scheduled for today either! A lot of unhappy people in Gatwick I guess!
