Nice to see to old adage of 'The best defence is a good offense' is alive and well.

Urgh. And they really are just offensive, aren't they. Their 'official response' just riled me - again - and yet more puerile behaviour!
Well, no danger of me flying them any time soon.
More and more people I know who used to fly with them no longer do so unless there is absolutely no alternative.

Would anyone really want to fly with an airline that treats official organisations with such contempt and lack of respect ?
I just think it's rude and obnoxious. Heaven help you if you have a valid concern and you need help, they will most likely tell you to bog off.
I have flown Ryan air once, and will never do so again.

I get the impression that 'bog off' is when they are being nice to you.
What actually surprises me is that the debit and credit card people arn't making more of this and being proactive in saying - 'our charges are X% based on the value charged and there is no way we would charge 5 per leg/per pax as we dont know how many people / legs you have booked for'.
It would be easy to do as they could just flag up these tranactions and print something on the statement.

Bog off was the most forum friendly thing I could think of. It;s just a flat fee to cover admin costs for everyone, the reality of what is being charged to Ryan Air does n't really come into it. If they actually took cash payments, it would cost them far more to process than an electronic payment.

The thing is, and I have posted before, I have had many flights with Ryanair. I have never had a bad one.
The staff have been efficient, and they do smile and once you are out of the mindset that flying is special then it all sort of comes together.
And booking Ryanair is a game which can be won.
1. I never fly Ryanair if I have hold luggage
2. I never pay more than 5 for a flight
3. I never pay their credit/debit card charges - they are a rip off.
4. I only use Ryanair for discretionary travel - like a day trip or something to do on a day off.
5. Ryanair do not have opt-out insurance.
The problem with the OFT is that they are essentially spineless, and Ryanair are a convenient target. Because Ryanair do have a free payment method, despite the many loops you have to jump through to get one, they are not doing anything illegal.
And Ryanair are masters of their art, hence this:
RYANAIR RELEASES 1M 4 FINGLETON FARES
These 4 all in fares includes all taxes and charges so passengers who pay with the widely available MasterCard Prepaid and travel with carry on luggage only can fly for this advertised 4 fare a point conveniently forgotten by the overpaid CEO of the OFT in his misguided attack on Ryanair.

What they seem to forget is that all it takes is a couple of lines in a Bill before Parliament to change the law on payments to make the charge reflect the true cost.
Making childish jibes at an organisation such as OFT doesn't win any favours.
