Airports closed due to snow

Currently Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds/Bradford, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports have all either completely suspended operations or have a very limited service until at least dinner time today due to the snow.

Expect very long delays if you are arriving or departing from these airports today.

EDI is open again. I'm a bit surprised it closed as it didn't snow that much last night, though I guess it might have been the low temperature causing the problem.

The 6.20am flight to STN, which forms my usual Monday morning 8.05 flight up to EDI, finally departed EDI at 12.20pm.

Apparently one/if not all of the MCO - MAN flights today was diverted to LGW, as my father was chatting to someone at MAN hotel tonight, who'd just got off a coach from LGW [n]

Hope for their sake there's not too much disruption to the MCO flights tomorrow having dropped some today..

The pax should have stayed at home - could have saved themselves some cash as you don't need to be in Florida to go to Blizzard Beach at the moment [}:)]

Yep - just seen that on the news over here - 'severe' snow forasct for Florida and East Coast this Friday .

I am in Palm Springs and it is sunny and hot and expected to fly via LAX to LHR tomorrow - looks like it may not be happening . . . .

HG, I was in Tokyo last year when the snow came in the UK and flights were being cancelled right, left and centre. I found the easiest way to get information was to check on the VS website about the Flight Status of the flight leaving LHR. Once I knew it was in the air I knew I was OK and the VS website also gave details of the return flight which had been pushed back a bit

Flightstats has just been updated by FAA to show VS08 predicted on-time.
No entry yet for the 24 but the 23 is projected 2hrs late

The 'view extended info.' can be useful.

Whether you can land at LHR is another matter!

Currently sitting in MCO after the late arrival of VS75 from MAN - 6.5 hours late! VS have given us meal vouchers but nothing is open at MCO! Nice one!

Have fingers crossed that we can land at MAN tomorrow around midday.

No more snow forecast for the North West now, yesterdays heavy snow has made its way South overnight, more to come to tomorrow for the North but mainly the East Coast, so providing MAN have got the runways clear you should probably be ok.

Looks like their estimate is about right, now running 5hrs late provided MAN is open.
Fast turnaround at MCO and caught up a bit of time en-route.

In the circumstances, well done VS!

Apparently the VS44 from LAS is currently at Prestwick, and Birmingham has two VS 747s from MCO. Unfortunate for all concerned and it's forecast to snow all day south of London, could be messy for all LGW routes for days ...

4 BA 777s diverted to AMS & CDG so PIK & BHX not too bad!

Which then has a knock on effect on MAN routes which in turn are already suffering big delays... Good luck if you are travelling in the next few days is all I can say!

Massive overbooking on some airlines.

A friend just got back from AMS - was booked through to Detriot but 60seats overbooked!
He was given 500Euros and sent back to NCL (but maybe they just did not want him at the security meeting over there [}:)] )
