Another new route from this start up - London (!) Oxford - Newcastle.
It appears the Edinburgh flights will stop in Newcastle in one direction.

I saw this flight a couple of weeks ago. OXF are doing a great job at attracting some flights of late, and about time really.
What with Baboo's service and the Cityjet charter to Jersey next summer plus this route it seems that someone is going all out to get some proper services from Oxford.
IIRC there was a similar Oxford-Cambridge service a couple of years back (after all these two cities, given the links, have very poor transport options....X5 coach anyone?! No thank you!), however it fell on hard times.
Personally I have no problem with Kidlington using London branding for the airport, after all there are a huge number of airports that use London in order to help them attract passengers, which are not really that much closer than Oxford to London and lets not forget that the Oxford-London coach service, is the worlds most frequent intercity bus service, so its not as if transport links are poor.

And why exactly would a proper University city *want* links with a flat town in East Anglia most famous for producing traitors [:w].
To be fair, it's actually surprisingly quick and easy to drive between Oxford and Cambridge nowadays.

It never actually started iirc - the 'next' Richard Branson was very good at generating press releases but it turned out to be all hot air, although he does seem to be involved with Varsity Express.

http://www.flyvarsity.com/Yeh apparently according to the Oxford Mail, the carrier have fallen out with the company that were operating the aircraft for them.
A shame as there was a good TR on a.net on them and it looked to be a good idea. I wonder if someone like Air Southwest or Eastern will look into operating the route.
