I was rather surprised upon checking into my hotel last night that the wardrobe was lacking in both walls and doors/curtain? It was a nice enough room with with fairly decent fittings. Is this standard practice? ?| I have never seen such an open wardrobe.

It is especially in budget hotels and the 'new builds' which are all modular.

If there is no door on a wardrobe that saves money in the first place, then maintenance on damaged doors isnlt required and the door dosen't need dusting so saves on cleaning.

No door also makes the room seam larger

Makes sense I suppose, although I wouldn't want to leave suits uncovered for a longer trip.

You could disguise yourself as a wardrobe door

Presuming that you happen to be in the same hotel my suggestion would be in the toilet (not too literally) as when the bathroom door was fully open it acted as a closed (and lockable) door for the toilet section of the bathroom. That way the bathroom door would be fully open so no secrets and I may be over thinking this.

And under the bed is out of bounds now as most are built on plinths - saves having to hoover under them - efficiencys gain is illicit pleasures loss !

OMG - I have never seen such a poor excuse for a wardrobe in my life ! It is not big enough to hold one change of clothing for me let alone the shoes I would need.

Jacki I declare myself innocent, but will admit to liking cheap novels when away from home.

hackneyguy I am glad I only had to make use of the storage for one change of clothing. The kettle unit was fixed in place so that took up most of that shelf.

However, I was quite surprised to find out from the hotel blurb left in the room that what I thought was meant to sleep two was actually meant to be a family room for two adults and two children. Given that you can see the end of the bed in that picture and the sofa went from about 6" from the bed to the wall. Not sure where you are meant to put cases if it was pulled out.

Ian if you were staying in such an establishment it would have meant that the sky had fallen in !

Sounds as if the room was no larger than a reasonable walk-in closet. No need for doors there!
