Some L's upgradeable, Some L's not??

Looking in to flights to Vegas with work. Only able to fly down the back, but always looking for fares that are upgradeable with miles. I've just seen a return which is L class both ways, but the fare codes are coming up as saying one is upgradeable, the other isn't. From the fare codes page:
Class = L London Gatwick Airport to Las Vegas (McCarran International Airport)
Subject to availability, this fare is eligible for upgrade using Flying Club miles via the Flying Club Helpline.
Class = L Las Vegas (McCarran International Airport) to London Gatwick Airport
This fare is not eligible for upgrade using Flying Club miles.
Is that right? I've never since this difference before.
Thanks.

Yes, it's correct. Upgradeable fares using miles taken from VS T&C's, section 4.4.7 on
this page:
UK Y, B, L W, S
Japan Y, B, L, M W, S
Caribbean Y, B, L W, S
USA Y, B W, S
Hong Kong Y, B, L W, S
China Y, B, L W, S
South Africa Y, B, L, M W, S
Nigeria Y, B, L, M** W, S
Nairobi Y, B, L W, S
Mauritius Y, B, L W, S
India Y, B, L, M W, S
United Arab Emirates Y, B, L W, S
Australia Y, B, L W, S
L fares cannot be upgraded using miles when originating in the US. You can upgrade with miles from an L fare from every other origin apart from the US for some reason. I don't know why though?

Thanks for finding that James. I'm sure I've had L's both ways before that I was able to upgrade. Anyone know if this has changed recently? Seems strange they allow it from all other destinations but not the US.

This has changed reasonably recently then

!

! . I have previously upgraded (numerous times) both legs of L fares when travelling to and from the USA. I haven't travelled to the US in nearly a year and my last flight was upgraded this way.

I think there is some confusion here, and the website isn't showing correctly.
An L fare is upgradable as a round trip as long as your outbound leg is originating from within the UK . So if you buy a LHR-SFO-LHR L Fare, you can upgrade the whole journey to UC for 60k miles. I have personally done this on numerous occasions.
If you were flying SFO-LHR-SFO, then you would need a B fare to upgrade with miles.

I've just purchased a K outbound to MCO and a L on the return (then upgraded with miles) without any problem.
