Eeek, terrible exchange rate currently..

speaking with Plat Amex, rate not bad, but hate paying 3% surcharge on transaction, especially given fairly big number.

Someone had mentioned before- but can't find it: another good supplier, "thompson, thomas ?| "
Tesco's seems the easiest option and offering 122 commission free.

any suggestions

I've used Thomas Exchange Global, who were very efficient, but travelmoneymax.com is a good comparison site for currency.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on in Japan, as we're booked to go for the first time next April.

I can highly recommend http://www.travelfx.co.uk

At time of writing, they are offering 128.0000 to the pound.

Note, they update their rates fairly frequently each day, and they do move a tiny bit quite often.

I've used these guys a number of times, especially for USD, and have not yet found a better deal...

Free of commission, free delivery over 500 pounds - that's the most important bit.

Payment is via inter-account transfer from internet banking or via cheque - hence they can offer better rates.

All info on website.

Good luck...

Al

Great site for comparing currency http://www.travelmoneymax.com
But Al's site, http://www.travelfx.co.uk doesn't seem, to feature and they top the rates with the free delivery too!

Thanks Al,
Ed
