Expert Flyer - how accurate?

Hello,

I know a number of you use EF, how accurate is this? EF is showing Z4 for my flight but when calling to change my flight to Z they are saying there are none available. My o/b is a Z fare and should be no issue changing.

The VS website also shows Z fare available if I complete a dummy quote?

Have I been given dud info by the FC line or is there a data lag?

Thanks,

Luke

In my experience, very accurate.

When I made my last booking, the seat I chose was blocked out immediately.

I'm a tad confused though. A Z fare is non-changeable.

VS deff lags, not sure about EF

Upgrading can be a pain, my parents had trouble when they went to Barbados, was cheaper to buy a whole new UC return than to upgrade...

A few days ago I was quoted to upgrade my K to a Z at a reasonable cost, called back today to do so and it has changed, however, availability on EF is exactly the same.

Back on the phone I go......

As Expertflyer pulls it's data from the GDS system (the global system travel agents use to book), I believe this info can differ slightly from direct booking availability which I think lags behind slightly.

There is also the possibility that when you are calling VS about changing your flight others are using the website to check availability, make dummy bookings etc. Even your own query can do this. This puts a hold on the fare for about 20 minutes or so.

I can clearly remember one Sunday afternoon when there wasn't a Z to MCO to be had for love nor money but come Monday the same route and times were awash with Zs

45 minutes on the phone to a lovely lady and I'm all set in Z both ways to MCO in Sept.

I'm sure VS are very fed up with me, having originally booked LHR to JFK now LGW to MCO lol.

Thanks for your help!
