Hello again,

Following a discussion last week about car hire in Orlando, I took some advice and have been trying to join the Dollar Express scheme. I've filled out the on-line application form but they keep refusing to process this, saying my driving license number is incorrect ii)

It says use "only numbers or letters" but our UK driving license number is made up of both, not one or the other.

Any advice how I can get over this block. Perhaps some of you who are already DE members experienced a similar problem.

I'm puzzled - I signed up for DE only a couple of months ago and didn't have a problem with inputting UK D/L numbers - and yes, as you say, they have numbers and letters. I just checked my profile again to be sure.... have you tried to put it all in anyway?

Sorry, you have tried that. Erm, maybe contacting them via their feedback form???

You have changed the 'Country of Issue' from United States to United Kingdom?

Many thanks Catsilversword & Darren for replying.

We've just tried again. Put in the license number as it appears ie few letters of the surname +numbers+letter+numbers but it was not accepted again. Message came up saying only put in letters or numbers. Also checked we did make sure to change country to UK.

Hit to submit button and now we've now got an error message as well :? so have just e-mailed customer services to see if they can offer any assistance.

Thankyou again for trying to help me. Hev

Good luck Hev - it's frustrating when something so straightforward turns out not to be!

Hi, just to let you know its all ok now & we have finally got the Dollar Express ID.

Apparently I was filling out the 'region' box on the application form incorrectly. I was putting UK, LON (for London) ENG (for England) GBR etc. basically trying all sorts :? Then I put in the first two digits of my postcode & that got me through. The customer service department says that this requirement does cause probs. because the 'region'box is set up for US applicants who would just put in their State abbreviation.

Anyway thanks again for the advice, we didn't even know this DE service exsisted until I read it on this forum y)
