MoneySavingExpert Credit Card Rewards Comparison

You may find this comparison between various reward schemes interesting.

It's got the VS fee-free card, the bmi and a couple of the BA Amex cards on there. Interesting how poorly the VS card rates for spend required to get a free New York return.

As i've said before, anybody saving up VS miles for a VS trip using the fee-free card is making a bad choice. The bmi card earns 1.5 miles per pound, instead of 1, is also fee-free and the bmi miles you earn can be used to get VS flights. Admittedly the reward levels are slightly higher, but nowhere near 1.5 times as much. The only downer is spreading mileage earning between two programmes, but it's a no brainer if you have a bmi diamond club membership anyway.

A very interesting chart.

I have to say that I am more than happy with the earning power of the fee paying VS card. It has caused my FC total to tick along very nicely.

The way I look at it is - it is money I would spend anyway and, as I pay the balance every month, the fee is a negligable percentage of the money I spend.

We don't want too many people jumping on the bandwagon because they may 'do a Texaco' and 'simplify' the earning power;);)

The fee paying card is a rather different kettle of fish, that's why i only slate the fee-free one! :)

The fee paying bmi card earns 2 bmi miles instead of the 1.5 for the fee-free, so the VS card is better when paying a fee (because of VS's lower redemption figures), even though the fee is slightly higher.
