Afternoon fellow V-Flyers!

need your thoughts if you don't mind....
As some of you are well aware I have a Giraffe that has had the taste of the high life.... VS Upper Class and CO Business First... I have booked Flights over to BOS to see Friends again for my Birthday this year with Aer Lingus, I have had some mixed reviews of their service in Business. As I am flying LGW to DUB, Pre clearing Homeland security etc at DUB and then onto BOS on the way out I am on a A332 and on the way back a A333. Does anyone know what kinda service they have some say its good some say its bad and some say it is what you pay for it.

I paid a less for EI Business return then I would of with VS UC oneway and Y back.

Any feed back and thought good or bad would be nice!

Many thanks

G and Mike

I too would be interested to know what people think. I was looking at flying business with them to New York. I was a bit concerned that it would be awful because the airline is part owned by Mr Ryanidon'tlikepeopleverymuchair.

For a short hop like DUB-BOS they are fine, going from memory it's a cradle type seat (which I actually prefer) the food is good, the ife is lacking.

They are not to happy about it either, this was part of Ryan Air trying to take over Aer Lingus, something that they would still like to do, but for now it is a passive ownership stake.

One advantage of flying EI to the US is being able to pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in either Dublin or Shannon so when you land you head straight to the baggage hall! y)

Michael O'Leary has very little say in the day to day running of Aer Lingus so I wouldn't worry about that.

While I can't comment on EI's transatlantic service I can say that you will be transiting through Dublin's new Terminal 2 which only came into operation in January of this year. It is light, airy and spacious and certainly a far cry from the dump that is now Terminal 1. I posted some photos here

Your flight from LGW will be bog standard. You will have a BOB food and drinks service followed by Sky Shopping by which time you will be in DUB

Hey HL,

Thanks for replying :)
I flew LGW to ORK a few months ago with EI And I must say I was impressed! Nice wide Y seats.
Im just worried about a few things, I have just over 2 hours at DUB, I should have time to pre-clear and get a quick drink in the Gold Circle Lounge? and is it well signposted when you arrive at DUB on where to go in T2 to get pre-cleared?

Thanks for the link to the pics of T2 it looks nice.

You were in Cork and didn't call to see me? v(

2 hours in DUB is plenty of time. You will arrive and depart from T2 so all you have to do is go upstairs. Here are directions as to what to do - just ignore #2.

Pre-clearance is well signposted. It is past the Slaney Bar but where from there I'm not sure except that in that direction of the departure gates. Oh yes, the departure gates - I was a bit surprised that one went downstairs to departure although I'm not quite sure why I was as one goes down to the plane at ORK also. I suppose that in ORK the escalators are at the individual gates. However I think that the lounges are down there and the EI website indicates they are. I quite liked T2 but the disadvantage for me was no free Wi-Fi (unlike ORK) so the lounge will be welcome for that ....and the free booze :D
