Hotels near SFO

Good morning!

Could anyone recommend a good (&reasonably priced) hotel near SFO airport?

After the long day and flight, we'd like to crash somewhere fairly close to SFO ready for our VX flight the following morning.

I was looking at the Doubletree Hilton - not sure if anyone has stayed here?

Open to recommendations up to around £75-100 per night, ideally with a free (reliable and frequent) shuttle to SFO.

Many thanks,

Cal :D

I think I've stayed at most of the hotels around SFO at one stage or another. A favourite is the Hyatt Regency but it is pricey and I've only stayed there when I have bid successfully on Priceline. I've stayed in the Doubletree Hiilton and wasn't particularly impressed with it. Again I got it through Priceline when it was rated as 4* which it definitely wasn't. Priceline have since down-graded it.

Earlier this year I used the Hilton SFO and got a good rate from them. It is further out than some but I liked it. There was free wi-fi in the lobby and we were upgraded and had free wi-fi in the room also. Shuttle to the airport every 20 minutes and it stops only at the Crowne Plaza en route.

The night before I left I stayed at the Bay View Landing hotel which was rated #1 on Trip advisor. The rooms were large and had a microwave as well as tea and coffee etc. There was also complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby. Free wi-fi was available all over the hotel. Terrific views of aircraft landing! y)

The downside was that there was no dining room as such. Breakfast, which is complimentary, was taken in the lobby and was a buffet style with fruit and a selection of breads, muffins etc. It was quite small and difficult to get a seat at times. Next door were a couple of restaurants - an Elephant Bar and (I think) a Mexican place. My one crib is that the shuttle to the airport was every 40 minutes. It was fine for the journey to the airport as it is one of the nearest ones but on the journey from the airport it calls in at 2 hotels in Millbrae before arriving at the Bay View Landing. It was fine for an overnight.

There are also hotels in South San Francisco and St Bruno which have shuttles but the reviews on TA are very mixed

Four Points by Sheraton is fine for one night between flights.
Wouldn't want more than that as, like most airport hotels, there is not much around it.
They have free shuttle to SFO and are quite close (1.5 miles)and for an airport hotel pretty good.
I find much more than this type of hotel is a waste for one night at the airport.

The Embassy Suites on Gateway Blvd. is a nice hotel for an overnight. It is in the Hilton family of hotels. It has complimentary hot cooked breakfast (even eggs and omelets made to order) and a shuttle to the airport.

I'd suggest not being too tied to the shuttle. Just stayed at a very pleasant Best Western at Half Moon Bay. £90 a night and very near the coast. 20 minute drive to SFO.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

I'll have a look at the options. As we're starting in AMS very early, I know by the time we get to SFO (even with it being late afternoon), we'll be very tired so either way it will be a cab from the airport.
