Hoping to get out to OZ next year for a 2/3 week trip. y)

The trip is just tourist stuff - partly to meet up with Number 2 daughter who is travelling in the Far East, OZ and NZ for 15 months from early next year; partly to meet some friends and partly to do Barrier Reef stuff.

So I thought I would organise my electronic visa.

Could someone guide me as to whether I am:

ETA (Visitor) (Subclass 976)
or
eVisitors (Subclass 651)
or
Tourist visa (Subclass 676 or e676)

I have also never been described as "subclass" before, sounds like something out of a George Orwell novel!! BOO HOO. :0

Thank you. y)

If you have a UK passport, you need an eVisitor as a tourist visiting Australia for less than 3 months.

Make sure you get it from the right place though as an official eVisitor should not cost you anything. There are plenty of websites out there willing to charge you so be careful!!

This is the official eVisitor application website. Just click the eVisitor application link to start the application. An eVisitor is also only valid for 12 months from the date of application.

Be aware that it's also not an instant decision (like the US ESTA system) and you will be emailed the outcome within a few days.

What a pity NH as we could have had a V-flyer meet in some tavern in the outback serving cabernet sauvignons by the bucket!! What fun. y)

I note your point about the cost of living. Apparently everything is expensive in OZ at the moment, apart from land. :0

Yes - do come and invest your GBPs.

It is currently expensive due to the current strength of the Oz$. We are constantly being told inbound tourists are dropping off and Aussies are heading O/S in droves. So one assumes there must be bargains to be had!!

My mate lives in Barrosa valley with many friends working at the vineyards, let me know if your heading that way and will get you the inside track on what's hot...

Again, thank you NH. At the moment my plan is for Queensland this time. Interestingly however, my friends are planning to move to Adelaide so if things change I will let you know. A road trip around the Barossa and Coonawarra regions has significant appeal for some reason! y) y)
