Quick Esta question

I have an approved ESTA, valid until May 2012. Is it a case of needing to update my ESTA each time I go to USA or is it simply a case of needing 'an approved ESTA'? I wasn't sure if I need to update it each time with flight number & address in USA?
Thanks
James

I just make sure I do my API well in advance through the 'manage my booking' section of the website.
I haven't ever updated my ESTA, other than getting a new (paid) one when I got a new passport. I am not saying that this is the right thing to do though.

I didn't update my ESTA when travelling though the land border from Canada on two occasions and it wasn't a problem. I don't think I updated it the last time I flew into the States either but I did update my API

I don't think the flight and address fields in the ESTA are compulsory. I have never filled them in at all and I travel to the States a fair bit. I just provide the API when asked and this has always been fine.

The ESTA is valid for 2 yeas from issue and does not need updating for new address details each time you visit the USA.
As at240 notes, each time you visit, you just need to update your address in the USA in the APIS information section on MMB.

They recommend you update ESTA but it is not compulsory
Personally I do update it - it's sort of part of the pre-holiday routine now and on the list of things to do!

Thanks everyone! I've updated it anyway, given that it's 'updateable'! I can't do API yet as we're travelling standby (not on VS!)

We changed our flights on saturday and went to update, you can update the flight and where your staying, but not the date you land, so in reality they don't seem to care that much without a date...

I update and a couple of flights ago I was pulled for a secondary. After a lot of fiddling the agent assured me that I'd be ok from hereon in as she'd fixed "something"
