Favourite LHR hotel??

Hello v-flyers,

Looking to book an overnight before a flight later this year and need some help!

Wondering which hotels you would recommend at LHR, will be for T3?

No real preferences, apart from ease of getting to LHR.

Many thanks!

Cal :D

There are no hotels attached to T3, so really it doesn't matter which LHR adjacent hotel you choose, you can be on the Bath Road, and therefore transported by bus, or at the Hilton or other and use the Hex or underground to get you to T3. If money is not an issue, I would head to the Sofitel at T5 as by far and away the best hotel around the airport.

The Sofitel looks lovely. How do you get to T3 from here, is it easy?

Thanks for your help! Will go with the Sofitel.

Just read mitchja's recent TR and now know you get the HEX transfer from T5 to T3- perfect :)

For my LHR hotels I have frequently bid on Priceline and have been successful in getting a 4* hotel for $50 (I use the US site) The only problem with bidding on Priceline is that you don't know your hotel until your bid is accepted. The best have been the Sheraton Skyline, the Marriott and the Crowne Plaza; the worst, the Heathrow Sheraton

Given that I have been arriving at about 10pm (and later) and leaving before 8am I really haven't been too fussed about where I have laid my head

If you have an oyster card, you can also get the London Underground from T5 to T3.

Why bother when you can get the free transfer on the HEX

Well tube is more frequent, and just as free. So just depends what you think will depart first. And if one is delayed you have the other as back up

Tube cost me £1.30 T4-T5 last week.

I was a Hilton T4 fan but their prices seem to have gone crazy for a very small room, barely adequate bed/lousy chairs, plus the devaluation in HH.Had a couple of recent stays at the Radisson Edwardian which was my Hotel of choice in my VS days.Have to say I really don't know why it gets bashed so much, nice comfortable rooms decent food and excellent rates.
I don't like the over priced Sofitel had a terrible stay there a couple of years ago not been back since.

Isn't there a travelodge in the heathrow central terminal area?

The only Travelodges are on Bath road (quite a way out from the other hotels) or the T5 Travelodge (which is actually on the other side of the M25 and is in the middle of no-where)

Sofitel for me too - can get some good deals on hotels.com, late rooms or last minute.

The Jury's Inn at the Hounslow Underground station - a stop from LHR Central can be a cheaper comfy alternative.

Yup that's right, I did put in my original post "if you have an oyster card".

Strange how its not on Heathrow website though, as tube is free to oyster users because of BAAs strategy to reduce car usage, and encourage use of public transport to/from the airport.

We always choose the Skyline regardless of the terminal we are flying from. We have used it since 1976 and always been happy with it.

Yeah it's on the bath road just a little bit on from the other hotels, still served by the hoppa bus and also a public bus stop right outside! Booked it the other day for £19 for a weekday stay, for a short stay overnight can't complain at that!

Urrrrgh! Travelodge! Nothing wrong with them except that at the one we used in London there was one hairdryer for the whole hotel! If it was with someone else, forget it!

Marriot and I will admit I do like the Holiday Inn M4/J4 as it tends to be quieter but as it's a direct run down the M4 spur, easy to get to T1/3.

Sheraton Skyline if I can get a deal (rare) and even the Permier TravelInn rate highly.

Dislike the Holiday inn Ariel (the doughnut) as it's like sleeping in a pie.

I've stayed in the Holiday Inn M4/J4 too and found it easy also to T5

Sheraton Skyline I have scored through Priceline or else have managed to get the odd rare deal

ROTFLMAO!!

Can now just imagine a load of people in a queue outside someone room waiting to use it haha!

Really wouldn't want to spend much time in a Travelodge.. but arriving late at night, going to bed and getting up and going straight for a flight I couldn't resist for £19 compared to the prices at some other hotels!!
