Following recent changes to the Amex Plat travel insurance, my folks have found they are no longer covered for all things medical.. n( although still get all the other benefits etc etc.
Have any of you guys got any recommendations for cover for the post 70's traveller.. (in age, not that awkward early eighties era ): )
Ideally would like just the medical benefit, but assume getting this stand alone will be tricky..

There are some companies out there who will pray on those 70+ with extortionate pricing!
Having recently helped my grandparents acquire travel insurance (both well into their 70's) we found the pricing a complete battlefield.
The best deal we actually found them was with a packaged account from the banks i.e. Natwest, Santander which offer free insurance. The Santander account is £20 a month but you still benefit from the free insurance up to the age of 79. If 80 or over then it's just a one off £50 premium.
The £20 a month was much cheaper than anything else they'd been quoted and they also benefitted from free RAC breakdown, mobile phone insurance etc.
Saga wanted £600+

My Outlaws are now in that difficult 80's (let's not mention the hour call to me this morning to guide him through the BA Website :w ) and have got insurance via a NatWest super duper credit card
It also gives them Priority Pass access

I was reading a related post on a forum today and someone said they had got 11 weeks cover for Australia for ageing parents with medical issues with the following site. Very good price too apparently.

My parents use the insurance that comes along with a Nat West advantage gold account which is £12.95 a month and is family cover so only one account needed, there's an extra fee of £50 (yearly) for being 70+ but still doesn't work out too bad (and get phone insurance, green flag breakdown cover too!)

Thanks duggy, this sounds ideal, have forwarded the account details for them to investigate

Do be careful about pre-existing conditions. If in doubt check with the insurer.

This is one company we will be looking at for pre existing conditions but they also do Over 70's cover too.

NH, I booked travel insurance for my Mother (she's 76) via:
http://www.columbusdirect.com/Not really sure if you want an annual policy but this one did a great single trip price of £24 for 12 days cover.
