I love stupid scamming emails

Just had another from Lloyds TSB Bank (not v( ), starting:
"We detected irregular activity on your LloydsTSB Internet Banking Bank account and credit or debit card on 24 January 2012."
And ending:
"Don't Not Ignore this important email to secure your account."
I would be sure to don't not ignore it by clicking spam - I'm amazed people still try this stupid trick, are there really confused people out there who still fall for it?

Do you even have a Lloyds TSB account?
I used to get plenty of emails asking to confirm details on my Natwest account when I have never even had an account with them.

Yep - lots of them and then try and blame someone else for their own stupidity.
Had one earlier this week from a bank I'm not even a customer with so that got marked as phishing scam.
And another one from a bank I am with but using an email address I don't use for 'official' stuff.

I have no Lloyds TSB account, but really what offended me most was the grammar ... I know I am prone to spelling mistakes and less than sartorial wording on occasion, but really "Don't not ..." that's just as bad a cherry tomatoes and gravy!

I loved the one from HM Revenue and Customs telling me I am due a refund on my taxes and enclosing an IRS form

)
I haven't worked in the UK since 1974 and as for an IRS form....... well wouldn't you think they'd send the right form ?| LOL!
Oh and I regularly get emails about my accounts with:
Lloyds
Santander
Halifax
Barclays
NatWest
Co-operative Bank
Northern Rock
I wish I had enough money to hand around to them all

I'm always amused when the work firewall plays up and I find 50 emails asking if I want a penis extension! :0

I once got a series of emails seemingly from my "boss" with the subject line "because you are fat" and links to buying diet pills. My actual boss and I had a great laugh at them.

Slinky - by your don't not ignoring them - they've won!
Clearly the double negative means
do ignore and that's exactly what you have done. I expect they are laughing all the way to the First National Bank of Lagos

You're right, I entered my bank account details and now Lagos owns my overdraft. Result.

Sometimes they come from strange angles, take for instance a search for a short term let of a flat in Brussels the other year there, brought up some extremely cheap massive flats (didn't sound real anyway, they'd have got further with a realistic quote), which were scammers. I had five or so with the similar sentences and a whole bunch of 'god will rent this flat' sort of stuff. Its amazing really, with a bit of effort, they could HAVE REALLY SCAMMED ME....

The latest ones I've been getting are "Company xyz are giving away abc, can you believe that? Click on link to collect..."
Emails cost nothing, if they send 10,000 and 3 people bite, they're quids in.....I get the feeling that more fall for these things that you'd like to think.

So are you telling me that despite the fact that I gave my bank details and paid the "admin fee" to the nice man in Nigeria, I might not get the promised share of the £10million that he needs to get out of the country (via my bank account)?! :0 :0
I was going to use that cash to book a few UC flights...

You'll all be laughing on the other side of your face later.
I received an email from a Bank in Nova Scotia today telling me that a deceased Aunt had deposited $8m in an account for me 7 years ago.
All I have to do is send them some personal details to confirm who I am (which seems perfectly reasonable) and also confirm if I am "dead or alive"
I feel a lifetime of UC is just around the corner.
