It's been a few years since I travelled out to LHR by tube but I will probbaly be doing so in a couple of weeks. Travelling from Victoria, what is the best place to change to the Picadilly line so that it is a cross-platform change rather than via stairs?
The TFL journey planner suggests Hammersmith but I seem to remember that required a bit of a trek when changing lines!
Thanks.

Acton Town i would say is your best bet as only 2 lines come to this stn. So you will need to take the district line from Victoria and change at Acton Town

Hammersmith is OK, Barons Court may be quieter. The change is just across the platform.

I did this the other week with some other V-flyers (we all had different opinions on the best place to change!). Just don't get the Wimbledon line trains.
We got off the District line at Hammersmith and crossed the platform (a matter of feet) to the Picadilly line - no stairs or anything to negotiate

At Victoria, you will have to use stairs to get down to the ticket hall area whatever line you take. Stairs again to get to the district line platforms, escalators for the Victoria line.
You can take the Victoria Line to Green Park (level access ramps on the Victoria Line platforms make it easier to get on and off the train with luggage), that is fully step free now, and change onto the Piccadilly Line, but will require going up to ticket hall level and back down again. Journey time is roughly 60 minutes
Or you can take the District line to Hammersmith or Acton town where you can change line at platform level (though there are some big steps on and off trains here). Journey time roughly 55 Minutes

Thanks all y)
I see that journey planner sometimes suggests South Ken which I think is the mistake I made last time when I ended up dragging a heavy case down some stairs and then for what seemed like miles along a passageway v(
I quite often take the coach from Victoria but I don't think the times will work out this trip so Hammersmith it is!

Yep, Barons court or Hammersmith are the best bet.
Acton town is ok, but the Picadilly will be faster from Hammersmith than the district line.
