next weekend, heading out for a quick weekend break to AMS, 2 nights at the Pulitzer and not much else planned (on purpose...just a relaxing weekend away, sans mini y) )

soaking up the cafe culture..(oops that came out wrong in this instance.. ): ), people watching, mooching and bobbing into the obvious tourist haunts. can't believe I've never been, so quiet looking forward to it..

Thinking of going out for a nice meal on the sat night, anyone got some good suggestions ?

another I enjoyed was De Kas http://www.restaurantdekas.nl/the-menu

Or you if you have an appetite find an Indonesian restaurant and go for a Ristaffell , 17-25 small dishes tasters if you like, stunning and filling! ):

Plenty of art museums to choose from though I think the Rembrandt Haus may be closed for refurbishment though.

T main AMsterdam History museum (sorry can't remember its proper title) is very good on the history of the city.

The centre is reasonably compact to meander around and well signposted.

I think you'll enjoy the Pulitzer- Mr DL and I have stayed there previously - atmospheric and quirky (despite being part of the SPG group) but with lots of luxury touches :) . Nice bar too :D . It's well located (far enough away from the tack but central enough to see everything).
There are loads of good Argentine steakhouses in Amsterdam.
Have a great weekend.

You have to try a ristafell in Amsertdam - great food.

Don't forget Anne Fank's house...

As Tonty says, the centre is compact, so you'll be able to fit a lot in.
