Hi
I am traveling on the VS45 on Wednesday and need to get the Amtrak from Penn Station to Philadelphia that evening. I will probably get the LIRR to Penn Station.
Can anyone advise me on which train time to book (assuming the VS45 lands on time)?
The times are:
6.00pm (prefered)
6.25pm
6.35pm
6.45pm
Or can anyone suggest a better way to get to Philadelphia?
Thanks
John

VS45 lands at 16:40, right? Timing all depends on how immigration is at JFK! I'd go with the 6:45pm to be safe - you could always just buy the ticket at Penn, but Amtrak can sell out, in particular the Acela. Definitely agree that train is the easiest option of going NY to Philly.

Why not fly from JFK - PHL? I'm sure AA eagle, US Airways or Delta Connection would fly the short hop and you'd avoid all the hassle of getting into manhattan etc.

Wouldn't they most likely go from LGA?

Can't you switch to fly into Newark? the trains go straight from there into PHL

I agree that flying to EWR is better if it is possible to change flights -- better than taking a connecting flight; however, the VS1 may arrive a bit later than you were planning.
Having said that, I would be hugely impressed if you arrived on the VS45 and made the 6 pm train from Penn. That would be quick!

Hi guys
I just thought I'd let you know I booked the 7.00pm train. I waited until I was in the Clubhouse to be sure of my flight time. It was predicting arrival of 5.00pm and it was right. We landed around 4.50pm with a 10-15min taxi.
Immigration was quite busy, I had around a 30min wait, but I managed to get to Penn station for 6.35pm.

Thanks for reporting back. I think you did well -- the VS45 immigration delays are notorious. Enjoy Philly! I was there last week.
